(Cost is all-inclusive; Maximum 20 participants)

Aug 17-18, 2019 (Sat-Sun)

9:00 am - 4:00 pm

Ourfoods is pleased to announce a 2-day Intensive Art & Science of Aquaponics & Hydroponics workshop in collaboration with Organic Harvest Gardens.

The class includes:

  • Hands-on introduction to Aquaponics & Hydroponics

  • Farm-to-table organic lunch prepared with love by Organic Harvests’ Chef Rod and team

In this 2-day, Intensive Aquaponics & Hydroponics class, you will not only learn why this is the future of local food production but also how to do it yourself.

Aquaponics is a soil-less food production system that uses fish to provide fertilizer for the plants, while plants and bacteria act as a natural bio-filter for the fish. In this closed-loop system, the symbiotic relationship between edible fish, plants and bacteria results in a highly productive system that is ideal for urban farming.

Hydroponics is a soil-less food production system that uses ORMI approved nutrients to provide fertilizer for the plants.

Best of all, both methods uses 80-95% less water than conventional agriculture, can exceed organic certification standards, and YES… the food is absolutely delicious!

With an emphasis on applied knowledge, we will cover the fundamentals of aquaponics and hydroponics through hands-on learning.

By the end of the course, you will develop the skills and confidence to begin your own system at home or in your community.

This class will take place at Organic Harvest Gardens in Long Beach, your personal, local, urban “Mini-Farm”. Organic Harvest specialize in Naturally Grown, Non-GMO, chemical free Herbs and Vegetables, from commonly known to unique and exotic offerings, specifically for Chefs and restaurants.

Nestled under the freeways in a pristine urban location, the farm provides an inspiring space to learn about aquaponics and hydroponics. You’ll have hands on experience with “The Great EDIBLE Wall of Long Beach” featuring Hydroponic and Aquaponic Nano Farms™.
